ANALISIS APLIKASI KOMPRES HANGAT TERHADAP PENURUNAN SUHU TUBUH PADA BALITA DENGAN ISPA YANG MENGALAMI HIPERTERMI DI RUMAH SAKIT SWASTA X CIKARANG

ABSTRACT

Background: One of the common symptoms of Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is hyperthermia. Besides
medication therapy, alternative treatments are also necessary to manage hyperthermia, one of which is warm
compress therapy. However, warm compresses have not been optimally applied by parents or nurses in
hospitals. Parents of patients often do not know the correct method, resulting in less effective application of
warm compresses. Objective: This case study aims to analyze the application of warm compresses in reducing
body temperature in toddlers with ARI experiencing hyperthermia. Method: This study design uses descriptive
analysis with a case study method. The sample consists of two patients: the first patient is 4 years and 7 months
old, and the second patient is 2 years and 1 month old, both diagnosed with ARI and hyperthermia at Private
Hospital X in Cikarang. The warm compress intervention was administered once a day for 3 days, with each
session lasting 15 minutes. Results: After the application of warm compresses, a reduction in body temperature
was observed: the first patient's temperature decreased by 1.9°C, and the second patient's temperature
decreased by 2°C. Conclusion: Warm compresses can effectively reduce body temperature in toddlers with ARI
experiencing hyperthermia.
