ABSTRACT

Background: Pneumonia is an infection that attacks one part of the lungs or both, caused by
microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, mycobacteria. The microorganisms that cause
pneumonia are infections that can cause inflammation of the lungs, the alveoli in the lungs will fill
with pus and fluid, so that their ability to absorb oxygen is reduced. The nursing problem in babies
is ineffective breathing patterns. The intervention given to babies with pneumonia with impaired
oxygenation needs is auscultation of breath sounds, positioning. Objective: This scientific paper by
nurses is to determine the effect of the prone position on respiratory rate and oxygen saturation in
babies with pneumonia in the perinatal ward at RS X Bekasi. Method: This scientific paper for
nurses uses a case study design with data analysis carried out using descriptive analysis. The
number of patients taken was 2 patients. The prone position intervention is very good and has
advantages such as reducing apnea, increasing lung volume and making the baby sleep more
peacefully which is done 3 times a day for 20 minutes. Results: The results of implementing
Evidence Base Nursing in two patients showed that the prone position can support improvements
in respiratory rate and oxygen saturation in babies with pneumonia. There was a decrease in
saturation in by D from 95% to 98%, RR 53x/minute to 53x/minute, pasda by Msaturas from 96%
to 99%. Conclusion: There was an increase in respiratory rate and oxygen saturation after the
prone position intervention.
