ANALISIS PENERAPAN KOMPRES JAHE HANGAT TERHADAP PEMBENGKAKAN PAYUDARA PADA IBU POSTPARTUM DI RUMAH SAKIT SWASTA BEKASI TAHUN 2024

ABSTRAC

Introduction: The results of basic health research in 2018 revealed that 5% of
postpartum mothers experienced mastitis. According to the results of the Indonesian
health survey in 2023, the incidence of mastitis has increased to 22.2% of postpartum
mothers in Indonesia experiencing mastitis. One way is to use the non-pharmacological

technique of warm ginger compress. Ginger has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-
fever, anti-swelling and anti-angiogenic ef ects. Objective: To analyze the application of

warm ginger compresses to breast swelling in postpartum mothers at the Bekasi Private
Hospital in 2024. Method: in this research the case study method with 2 respondents in
the form of nursing care Results: Based on the implementation of nursing carried out on
2 postpartum mothers at home Bekasi private hospital. To reduce breast swelling
experienced by respondents, they were given warm ginger compresses 2 times a day for 2
days. Warm ginger compresses were given for 20 minutes and given before the mother breastfed. The results of the nursing evaluation revealed that before the warm ginger compress was given, the six point engagement scale (SPES) score in the first patient was
4 and the second patient was 3. The mother complained that her breasts felt full and there
was a change in the texture of her breasts. After being given a warm ginger compress, the
SPES score decreased to 3 in the first patient and 2 in the second patient. The feeling of
fullness in the mother's breasts was no longer present but there was still a change in
texture. Conclusion: there was a change in the scale of breast swelling in both
respondents
