ABSTRACT

Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a condition triggered by dengue virus
infection which is characterized by clinical symptoms such as hyperthermia. Hyperthermia
can occur because the body is mechanisms are unable to compensate for excessive heat
loss, resulting in an increase in body temperature. RS Swasta X Bekasi City non
pharmacological nursing actions that can be carried out for pediatric with DHF who
experience hyperthermia, namely the Tepid Sponge technique, are highly recommended
because they can reduce increased body temperature and are very easy to do both at home
and in hospital. Case Study Objective: to determine the effect of giving Tepid Sponge
compresses on reducing body temperature in children aged 3-5 years at Hospital X Bekasi
City. Method: This case study method is a descriptive case study with data presentation in
the form of tables and narratives. The inclusion criteria for respondents were aged 3-5
years, diagnosed with Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) who experienced hyperthermia.
Results: Based on the administration of Tepid Sponge therapy intervention for 3 days to 2
managed patients, the result was a reduction in body temperature of 1C-2C. Conclusion:
There was a decrease in body temperature after administering the Tepid Sponge compress
to patients who experienced hyperthermia with Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever at Hospital X
City of Bekasi.
