ABSTRACT

Background: Hypertension or what is often known as high blood pressure is a condition where a
person is declared to have increased blood pressure above the normal limit. The problems that
occur in people suffering from hypertension is a disease that many people suffer from, which can
cause quite complex health problems and one of the common complaints is that patients experience
dizziness and severe pain in the nape area. This is the basis for nurses to carry out nursing actions
to overcome acute pain problems by looking at the pain scale indicators felt by the patient. One of
the independent nursing actions to overcome this problem is by providing Slow Stroke Back
Massage (SSBM) therapy. Objective: The application of Slow Stroke Back Massage (SSBM) therapy
is to reduce the pain scale in Hypertension patients at the X Jatiasih Private Hospital. Results: what
was obtained in the two patients who had been given Slow Stroke Back Massage therapy for 3 days
with a duration of 15 minutes was that it was able to reduce the pain scale in both patients.
Conclusion: what is obtained is that Slow Stroke Back Massage therapy can be used as an
independent nursing action to reduce neck pain and lower blood pressure in hypertension patients.
