PENERAPAN RELAKSASI BENSON UNTUK MENURUNKAN TINGKAT NYERI PADA PASIEN DENGAN APPENDIKTOMI ATAS INDIKASI APPENDIKSITIS DI RUMAH SAKIT X BEKASI



ABSTRACT

Appendectomy is a general emergency surgery performed to remove an inflamed appendix or
appendicitis. Open appendectomy surgery is an operation performed by making an incision about
5-6 cm long on the lower right side of the abdomen. Based on the appendectomy figures at
Hospital X Bekasi in 2024 for one month from February 19 to March 19, 2024, there are 4
patients in the inpatient room. Management after an appendectomy is pain management that can
be done by pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods. Non-pharmacological therapy is
used as an adjunct to pharmacological therapy to shorten pain episodes that only last a few
seconds or minutes. One of the non-pharmacological management is by way of benson relaxation.
Benson relaxation is respiratory relaxation by involving the patient's confidence factor which can
create an internal environment so that it can help the patient achieve a higher state of health and
well-being. Benson relaxation is carried out for 15 minutes in 3 days of treatment. The results
obtained from the two patients who have undergone the intervention are that there is a decrease in
pain levels every day.
