APLIKASI INTERVENSI TERAPI PURSED LIPS BREATHING TERHADAP SATURASI OKSIGENASI PADA ANAK DENGAN BRONKOPNEUMONIA DI RUMAH SAKIT SWASTA X JATIASIH

Background: Bronchopneumonia is a type of lung infection that commonly occurs in children. This
is a serious condition and can be life threatening if not treated quickly and appropriately.
Bronchopneumonia in children is caused by bacterial, viral or fungal infections that infect the lower
respiratory tract, namely the bronchioles and alveoli. Some of the most common types of bacteria
that cause bronchopneumonia in children are Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae
and Staphylococcus aureus. Meanwhile, viruses that can cause bronchopneumonia include
influenza viruses, respiratory syncytial viruses, and adenoviruses. Treatment of bronchopneumonia
can be done by combining pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment. Another
preventive intervention that can be given is by providing pursed lips breathing therapy to improve
oxygenation status in pediatric patients who experience bronchopenumonia. Objective: The
intervention in providing pursed lips breathing therapy aims to achieve more optimal, controlled,
efficient ventilation and can reduce the work of breathing, and increase oxygen saturation within
normal limits. Method: The method used in this scientific work is a case study conducted on 2
patients aged 10 years. A pre-test-post test was carried out on oxygenation status after the pursed
lips breathing (PLB) intervention. This therapy is carried out 30 times in a period of 10-15 minutes
within 3 days every morning, interspersed with normal breathing. Results: Evaluation of case
studies in 2 patients showed changes in oxygen saturation increasing within normal limits.
Conclusion: giving pursed lips breathing therapy is effective for pediatric patients who experience
breathing problems

Key words: Bronchopneumonia, pursed lips breathing, school age children
