ABSTRACT

Background: Infancy is a period where the initial foundation and is the basis for the beginning of
a child's extrauterine life so that it is considered a period or critical period, the pain received by
newborn babies during invasive procedures causes negative effects, one of which triggers distress
which triggers stress. which has the potential to interfere with brain development and cause lasting
effects on the individual baby, newborn babies in the hospital will face several painful actions or
procedures starting from their birth, giving vitamin K injections which can cause stress and pain in
the baby. Objective: In this paper, we provide a description of nursing care for newborns regarding
the provision of Swaddling therapy to pain patients with invasive procedures (Heel Lance) at X
Private Hospital Jakarta. Method: This research method is a case study of 2 newborn babies who
underwent the Swaddling method to reduce pain during invasive procedures using the NIPS
(Neonatal Infant Pain Scale) measuring scale. Results: The results obtained were changes in the
pain scale before, during and after the procedure in the first case the scale was 0, 0 and 0, in the
second case the scale was 0, 4 and 2. Conclusion: Swaddling is expected to be applied in nursing
care in carrying out invasive procedures on babies newborn in hospital
