ABSTRACT

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a non-communicable disease that occurs when the pancreas fails to produce
enough insulin or when the body cannot use insulin effectively. Factors that cause DM include physical
activity, irregular food consumption, and poor sleep patterns. Young adults are experiencing a transition
period from adolescence to adulthood. Lifestyle changes, busy routine schedules, and living conditions
cause changes in sleep patterns. A sleep pattern with less than 7 – 8 hours of sleep affects immediate
blood glucose levels. This study aims to determine the relation of amount sleep time with current blood
glucose levels in final grade at STIKes Mitra Keluarga college. The design of this research is cross
sectional analytical. Sampling was carried out using purposive sampling with a total sample of 65
respondents. Measuring current blood glucose levels using the glucometer. Testing was carried out
using the Spearman Correlation Test. The results of the analysis of the relation of amount sleep time
with current blood glucose levels found a p - value of 0.029. The results of statistical tests show that
there is a significant the relation of amount sleep time with current blood glucose levels.
