ABSTRACT

Backgraund : Umbilical cord care is the act of caring for the umbilical cord that
is carried out from the time of cutting until the cord falls off. Cord care aims to
speed up cord detachment and reduce the risk of infection. The impact that may
occur when the infection is not treated is disability to death. In addition, more
severe infections will enter and spread along the umbilicus vein can cause portal
vein thrombosis, hepatic abscesses and septicemia. One way to prevent infection
and speed up the process of removing the umbilical cord from the baby's abdomen
is by performing umbilical cord care. Objective : This study aims to determine
whether there are differences in umbilical cord care in newborns with topical
breastfeeding and without topical breastfeeding at the Bening Nawangsari Clinic.
Method : The research design used Quasi-experimental design with posttest ony

control desigen. This study was conducted at the clear nawangsari clinic in May-
June 2024. The sample amounted to 32 newborns in each group. The sampling

technique was purposive sampling. Measurement of umbilical cord care using an.
Result : The results of the study using the mann-whitney test obtained a
significant value of p-value 0.000
