ABSTRACT

This study aims to investigate the relationship between parenting styles and the
level of self-confidence in grade VI elementary school children at SD Negeri X
Bekasi City. With a research sample consisting of 60 students from class VI A and
B who have been followed from the start of class 6 until now as of January 2024, a
quantitative method was used using a questionnaire as a data collection tool. The
results of analysis using correlation and regression techniques and SPSS show that
there is a significant relationship between parental parenting patterns and
children's level of self-confidence. However, bivariate analysis shows that there is
no significant relationship between these two variables. The implication of these
findings is a better understanding of the importance of parents' role in shaping
children's self-confidence at elementary school age, while research limitations
include a lack of reference sources and literature, respondents' misperceptions in
filling out questionnaires, and limited classroom space when collecting data. The
research conclusion shows that the majority of elementary school children have
low levels of self-confidence, while the suggestion given is that schools in SD
primary school children.
