ABSTRACT

Introduction: Vitamin A is essential for normal growth and development of children under 5 years of
age. Vitamin A has a role in activating the production of white blood cells which support bone growth,
maintain and support the growth of body cells and improve the immune system. Vitamin A deficiency
can increase the risk of infectious diseases in children, such as upper respiratory tract infections,
measles and diarrhea. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between the level of
knowledge and attitudes towards maternal compliance in giving vitamin A to children under five.
Method: This research design uses cross-sectional quantitative methods, a research design whose aim
is to carry out data collection research at only one specific time. Results: Research on the relationship
between the level of knowledge and compliance found a p-value of 0.077 (p < 0.05), meaning that Ha
was rejected, Ho was accepted, so it can be concluded that there is no relationship between the level of
knowledge and maternal compliance in administering vitamin A. Meanwhile, the relationship between
attitude and compliance was found to have a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), meaning that Ho was rejected
and Ha was accepted, so it can be concluded that there is a relationship between attitude and maternal
compliance in administering vitamin A. Conclusion: There is a relationship between the level of
knowledge and maternal compliance in giving vitamin A, and there is no relationship between attitudes
and maternal compliance in giving vitamin A.
