ABSTRACT

Introduction: In old age there are processes of decreased body functions that can affect the health and
balance of the body, the body undergoes changes in the endocrine system and metabolism such as a
decrease in the insulin response of the pancreas as well as insulin resistance that causes the onset of
diabetes mellitus. Diabetes mellitus exercise is an effective means for patients to maintain physical
fitness so that it can improve the quality of life in the elderly, minimize the risk of complications, and
promote independence in living daily life. Education helps people, especially the elderly, to understand
and manage health conditions through increased knowledge and skills and emphasizes the importance
of understanding the benefits of gymnastics for the management of diabetes in older people. With
education using audiovisual makes education easier to understand by the elderly. Methods: This

research uses quantitative methods with pre-experimental research design using One Group Pretest-
Posttest Design planning. The population of this study is 32 respondents in an elderly diabetic

gymnastics community in a community in the private X Depok. The data collection was obtained by
filling in the "knowledge questionnaire on diabetic gymnastics" and assessing the "observation table"
for the evaluation of skills in diabetes gymnastika and then conducting the statistical test wilcoxon signed
rank. Results: The statistical results of the test using the Wilcoxon signed rank test showed the p-value
of knowledge (0,000) and skills (0.000) (
