ABSTRACT

Introduction: Hospitalization is a situation where children require hospitalization, children who
undergo treatment in the hospital will face a new environment that makes them feel uncomfortable.
Children undergoing hospitalization can cause anxiety, based on the results of preliminary studies
in several preschool-age children showing maladaptive behavior such as crying, screaming, and
refusing to be given action. One of the efforts to reduce anxiety in children undergoing
hospitalization is by conducting play therapy activities by diverting the child's attention to the game.
Purpose: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of snakes and ladders play therapy on
anxiety levels in preschool children at X Bekasi Hospital.Method: This type of research used is
quantitative research, with the design used in this study is Quasi Experiment and using the One
Group Pretest-Posttest approach. The instrument used to measure the respondent's anxiety level
with the Anxiety Inventory For Children (STAI-C) instrument. This study contained 36 samples of
preschool children. Results: Based on the Paired Sample T-Test test, it shows that there is an
effectiveness of snakes and ladders play therapy on anxiety levels in preschool children who are
treated at X Bekasi hospital with a p-value of 0.000
